Adath Shalom Religious School provides a vibrant, active environment and a solid foundation of Jewish learning. Family participation is encouraged both in school and at home, and hands-on education workshops are offered during the school year.

Classes meet once or twice a week depending on grade. Kindergarten (gan), first (aleph), and second (bet) grades meet on Sunday only; third (gimel) through seventh (zayin) grades meet on Sunday and Thursday; our Journey class, our special education program for students with IEPs in fourth through seventh grades meets on Sunday for an extended day.

Rabbi Biller and Charlotte Frank offer a program called Learning in a Social Setting for our congregational children in grades eight through 10. This informal learning encourages a continued connection to our synagogue and life-long Jewish learning.

Our youth groups include Club 4/5 programs for grades four and five. Kadima for grades six, seven, and eight, as well as USY for grades nine, 10, 11, and 12. Our youth groups are part of the USCJ network for Conservative synagogues.

The overall goal of the Jewish Learning Center is to create a caring, nurturing environment where students can explore and actively participate in Jewish life. Programs will cultivate Jewish identity and literacy through text study, music, art, drama, and dance. Students will engage in active, experiential learning that will also have practical application to their lives.

Key facets include the choice of electives for grades gimmel (third) and up, teen programs, and incorporating performance of mitzvot into the context of study. Study of Israel begins in kitah gan and continues each year. JLC students are "sorted" each year into houses -- Bet Be'ersheva, Bet Eilat,  Bet Tzfat, and Bet Haifa. These mini cross-grade communities work together to learn about their house locations in Israel as well as work collaboratively on many projects. We have in-class tefila/prayer and "God talk" lessons as well as community davening on Sundays.

We want our students to be able to articulate their understanding of God, make personal connections to our liturgy, and be able to lead prayer. Families will have the opportunity to learn together through multi-generational learning programs. JLC students and their families are eager to explore the vast and wonderful treasures of our heritage.

Ask about our special new member offer: enjoy a first-year synagogue membership for $360 when you enroll a child in Beth El's Jewish Learning Center.

Our religious school classes are for students in grades pre-kindergarten through 12. Our mission is to promote excellence in Jewish education within a welcoming and caring Conservative Jewish community. Our educational programs include special holiday celebrations, family education events, family worship services, field trips, music instruction, scheduled library time, and mitzvah projects. For our older students, in addition to our course offerings, there are madrikhim (teachers' assistants) and Israel scholarship programs. Our tutor program is designed to foster success among out students with special needs, as well as for those students who may need additional help. Our teachers are experienced and nurturing. There are four youth groups: Sunday/Fun Day (k-two), El Al (three-five), Kadima (six-eight), and USY (nine-12). There is no membership requirement until grade two.
