Highlands Art Gallery is one of the newest fine art galleries to open in Chester. Highlands Art Gallery StorefrontIt is tucked away in Chester Village Square, behind Main Street between Perry and Warren Streets. The gallery carries original oil paintings that are traditional in style, and represents only living artists who are established or emerging from around the United States and Canada.

Recently, Elizabeth Pruitt, a still life artist, did a live demonstration at the gallery for her one woman show. The finished piece, Distraction, sold the next day after completion. A portion of the proceeds from her show were donated to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation by the gallery and artist. She will return to the gallery Nov. 3 and 4 for an encore presentation.

In September, the gallery is having a two person show for Howard Friedland and Susan Blackwood. They will be doing a painting demonstration September 15th and 16th. More details are available on the Gallery website.

The gallery is very dedicated to its customers. Owner Cheryl Mcdowall will make house calls to either bring a painting to a client’s home or office to try the piece in the space or assist in determining what type of artwork would be appropriate for the setting.

The gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 10 am to 6 pm, and Sunday, 11 am to 5 pm.
