NJSFDA is a fashion design/fashion accessories school now in its 9th year. It is one of the most progressive learning centers in New Jersey offering middle and high school students a variety of courses of technical nature responding to the needs of the fashion industry. The studio is open on Sundays year round and 5 days a week during the summer. Students are taught in small groups and the facility is expertly equipped, including nine industrial machines and mannequins for draping.

All instructors have several years of industry experience and two are from the faculty of the Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC. The mission of the school is to prepare students for applying to fashion colleges with confidence and for employment in the fashion industry. Thanks to Ms Siletski’s diligence, all of her students who applied to fashion colleges were accepted to the schools of their choice.

The Comprehensive Summer Program is designed for beginners and is 7 weeks, starting June 25th. The aim is to expose students to 6 courses of study and to begin preparation for portfolio presentation. Classes meet 9:00 to 4:00 Monday through Thursday. All techniques taught will allow students to have the working knowledge and practical experience to design and fabricate their own creations in handbag, footwear, millinery, jewelry, textile, apparel and fashion illustration classes. Classes in college essay writing and the college application process are available for seniors.

Potential candidates should have the desire to be part of the fashion industry, enjoy creating things with their hands and/or be artistically inclined.
