Todd Eisenberg, the 40 year old developmentally disabled man who went missing from his home in South Orange on Nov. 18, was found and has been reunited with his family.
He was spotted at a homeless shelter in Baltimore on Dec. 5 around 10 p.m.
“He is fine physically, perhaps a little disoriented,” said his brother, Mark, in a telephone interview with NJJN. Mark said he picked up his brother around 2 or 3 a.m. on Dec. 6 from a police station in Baltimore and brought him back to their mother’s home.
“He wanted to start over in a new town and didn’t communicate these aspirations with us. We will talk to him and hopefully have him stay more local,” Mark said.
Todd was a client at Jespy House, a Jewish-run agency for developmentally disabled adults in South Orange, and was last seen before his disappearance at the Jespy residence on Milligan Place. When Todd first disappeared, relatives enlisted news outlets and Jewish organizations throughout the area in the search. The Montclair-based on-line news site Baristanet reported that “Todd was due to move out of his apartment at the end of November, and unhappy about moving to an assisted-living residence.”
Mark declined to describe how Todd got to Baltimore, and how he was spotted, but said the family was relieved and thankful for local support.
“We had a lot of help from the community, talking and searching, because Todd’s pretty well known,” he said. “We were able to brainstorm, and it was very helpful.”
