Super Sunday goal is $380k
As Super Sunday 2007 draws closer, staff members of the Jewish Federation of Greater Monmouth County and more than 135 volunteers are making the final preparations for the federation's biggest one-day, community-wide fund-raising effort on Nov. 18 at the Ruth Hyman Jewish Community Center in Deal. The two event chairs are confident that pledges this year will exceed the $380,000 that was raised last year, which was the federation's most successful Super Sunday campaign. "We had a phenomenal Super Sunday 2006, and I think the generous donors will be there for us again this year," said Jonathan Barofsky of Ocean, who, along with Abby Kramsky of Marlboro, is event cochair for the third consecutive year.
The 135 volunteers who will make calls from 50 phones, tabulate pledge results, work in the mailroom, maintain the food court, and decorate the area with balloons and streamers are already eager to kick off the day's activities, added Kramsky. "I think our volunteers are the best in the world," she told NJ Jewish News. "They know that Super Sunday is a lot of hard work, but they give their time, effort, and energy with a generous spirit. They believe in tikun olam, and this is a really wonderful way to put their beliefs into practice. And the people who are part of the federation's beneficiary programs are the deserving recipients of everything that happens on Super Sunday."
