When the models strut their stuff at the “New” Main Event, showing off fashions from The Boutique and Balizza, guests will be sure to find “something for everyone.”
The fashion show at the 11th annual dinner sponsored by the Women’s Philanthropy of the Jewish Federation of Monmouth County — to be held on Thursday, April 30, at Congregation Magen David in Deal — is part of a new format for the event, according to cochairs Robin Parness Lipson of Morganville and Dawn Barofsky of Wayside.
Rather than a guest speaker, the event will offer the fashion show with women from Monmouth County’s Jewish community showing off apparel from The Boutique in Freehold and Balizza of Red Bank. The fledgling models will not parade down a runway; instead they will circulate through the dining room, and the outfits they will sport will be for all ages and sizes.
Khanna Nazarova, owner and buyer of The Boutique and Balizza, said what the women will see at the Main Event will reflect the high quality of European fashion and accessories that she offers in her stores.
“I travel frequently to Paris, Milan, Florence, Istanbul, and Israel,” she said. “So I can reach out and locate both quality and up-to-the-minute fashion.”
Lipson said that the stores “have been incredibly generous. They are doing everything they can to make sure this will be a successful fashion show. The clothes are very stylish and reminiscent of European fashion.”
Nazarova, Lipson said, “has been a huge help and has gone above and beyond the call to help us with this project.”
Among the wares offered at The Boutique and Balizza are “handbags from a 140-year-old Italian manufacturer that still lines each bag with leather, handmade jewelry from a creative young designer in Tel Aviv, and the most beautiful fashions for full-figured women designed and manufactured by a Jewish Moroccan woman and her family,” said Nazarova.
While the guests enjoy the fashion show at the Main Event, they will feast on hors d’oeuvres and beverages before turning to a huge table of dessert choices.
The funds raised at the Main Event, which become part of the federation’s annual campaign, support a variety of projects, including medical, social, and educational services for children and adults; activities for special-needs children; assistance for senior citizens and Holocaust survivors; chaplaincy programs; resettlement in Israel of Jews from the former Soviet Union and Ethiopia; and assistance to Israeli victims of terror and war.
Beth Krinsky of Manalapan will receive the Woman of Distinction Award for her longtime commitment to the Jewish community and the State of Israel.
A gift baskets raffle will be held, as well as a drawing for a luxury watch donated by Gary Michaels Fine Jewelry of Manalapan.
