State gives perfect rating to Greenwood House
For the 13th time in the past two decades, Greenwood House, the Robert and Natalie Marcus Home for the Jewish Aged in Ewing, has received the highest rating from the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services. In December, the department’s annual state survey awarded the skilled nursing facility a perfect “zero deficiencies” rating from the state. “It’s something we’re proud of, and we work hard to do it,” said Richard Goldstein, Greenwood House executive director. Goldstein noted that the state looks at everything during the meticulous survey nursing, dietary, social, and housekeeping services; policies and procedures; and administration and staffing. “There are hundreds of specific regulations,” he said, “and because of the resources the community provides us, we are able to have the staff that can provide these services.” Of the approximately 360 skilled nursing facilities in New Jersey, only about 6.1 percent receive a “zero deficiencies” rating each year, according to Goldstein. “What it means to us is that we’re providing a very high quality of care,” he said. “The community can be comfortable in knowing that when their relatives come to Greenwood House, they get only the highest quality care as compared to other nursing homes in the state.” Evelyn Nade, president of the Greenwood House Residents Council, needs no convincing about that. “I think it’s a fantastic place,” Nade said. “I feel it’s the best place in all of Jersey. I had to come to a place where I got good care, and this is the place.” Comment | | | |
