Maurice Carchman

Maurice Robert Carchman, 78, of Springfield died June 24, 2012. Born in Newark, he was raised in Bloomfield and resided for over 40 years in Springfield.

Mr. Carchman was the owner of Carchman’s Pharmacy in Millburn, which he operated for 35 years.

He graduated from Rutgers University with bachelor’s degrees in agricultural research and pharmaceutical science.

He and his wife were longtime congregants and members of Temple Beth Ahm Yisrael of Springfield, where he was a past men’s club president. He was also an alumni member of the Rutgers Court Club.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Miriam; two daughters, Susan Blanco of Springfield and Joyce Fairclough of Bridgewater; his son, Fred of Queens; a sister, Lois Goodman of Boynton Beach, Fla.; and six grandchildren.

Services were held June 25 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union. Memorial contributions may be made to the Jewish National Fund, 78 Randall Ave., Rockville, NY 11570 (http://www.jnf.org).
