Leon B. Katz

Leon B. Katz, 87, of Delray Beach, Fla., died Jan. 11, 2012. He was born in Newark and also resided in Livingston.

Dr. Katz practiced dentistry in Livingston before retiring in 1991.

He attended New York University and then dental school at Temple University, where he earned his DDS. He served as a captain in the United States Army, and was stationed in Japan during the Korean War.

He was a founding member of Temple Beth Shalom in Livingston and served actively in the synagogue and as a past chairman of the community’s United Jewish Appeal drive.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Norma (Katzenel); two sons, Howard and Robert; his daughter, Ilene; and seven grandchildren.

Services were held at Riverside Gordon Memorial Chapels, Delray Beach. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
