Letters to the Editor

The swining

Re “Ham and angst,”

I am not a very observant Jew. Although traditional, I’m not a steady temple-goer nor do I keep kosher. Yet I was appalled by descriptions of “bacon-wrapped matza balls,” a yarmulke-wearing pig, and “pork belly braised in Manischewitz” in the Feb 18 Editor’s Column, “Ham and angst.” This is unbelievable. To embrace these absurdities just to get more Jews into the fold, as the letter writers seem to do in the March 4 issue (“Embracin’ Bacon”), is outrageous. Combining bacon and matza balls...wow. What next? Ham and cheese kugel, or stuffed pig for Passover?
