Re “Rabbis scratch chins over singer’s shave,” December 21

I read with interest your Dec. 15 article on beard shearing and Matisyahu, before and after (“Rabbis scratch chins over singer’s shave”).

I thought it might be of interest that there is a relatively new book titled The Beard in Jewish Law: Halachic Imperative or Kabbalistic Stringency?, by Rabbi Eliyahu Touger (Ktav). Perhaps there are readers who would like to peruse it and learn more about the issue.
