Jewish Federation of Monmouth County wants adults to experience the same joy of discovery their children and grandchildren have been enjoying on Birthright Israel trips, the free 10-day visits to Israel that have been offered to young Jews since 2000.

Federation’s recently announced Monmouth Journey to Israel, while not free, is a “four-star trip at an unbeatable price” that is being planned by the same professionals who coordinate Birthright Israel trips, said federation executive director Keith Krivitzky.

The “community engagement” trip, to be held next fall, “is a chance for Jewish people to relate to their own heritage and land,” said Lauren Reich of Manalapan, who serves as its chair, as well as of federation’s Taglit Birthright Israel program. “It’s open to all adults, but in particular we have been approached by a lot of Birthright parents and grandparents who want to experience what their children or grandchildren did. They want to achieve that same sense of belonging.”

The itinerary will be specially geared for adults who have never visited the country — but those who wish to revisit and reconnect with Israel will also be welcome. By planning Monmouth Journey to Israel, Krivitzky said, “we will offer an opportunity to really engage a lot of adults who aren’t necessarily connected to federation or other Jewish agencies. Most Jews in Monmouth County haven’t been to Israel before, and this will be a great opportunity to see Israel behind the headlines.”

The trip — scheduled for Oct. 28 to Nov. 6, 2012 — will be the first such program sponsored by the Monmouth federation in many years.  The eight-day program is priced at $1,749, excluding airfare, and includes luxury accommodations at such places as the Inbal Jerusalem Hotel and the Carlton Tel Aviv Hotel. Although campaign contributions are welcome and encouraged, there is no minimum gift requirement to participate, Krivitzky said.

The itinerary will kick off with a reception in Tel Aviv overlooking the Mediterranean, followed by tours of the coastal region, the Golan Heights, the Galilee, and Jerusalem. Visits to the Kinneret and Masada and many other cultural and historical sites will be included. The group will also visit the federation’s Partnership2gether region of Arad/Tamar, which will be celebrating its 50th anniversary.

The program will be an inspiring mix of cultural and recreational options, such as nature walks, theatrical performances, art festivals, touring, and shopping, Krivitzky said.

In the coming months, federation will approach some 25 Monmouth County synagogues to invite their members to register for the trip, which can accommodate 100 people.  Plans also call for the Jewish Federation of Greater  Middlesex County to   join in this program.

Hi,
I am interested in a Birth right-type trip for adults. Please advise me if anything is planned. Many thanks,
Irene
Frederick, Maryland

I am looking for an over 50 adult birthright type trip.  It does not need to be free but at a greatly reduced price.  I can’t spend 4-5 thousand dollars which are what most of the 10 day - 2 week trips end up costing with air.

very interested pls advise thks

This is fantastic!  I ask the same thing as others:  My husband and I are looking for a Birthright trip for adults, BUT, we need it for this summer!  Do you know of anything?
Thanks.
Blitt

I am interested in getting some information on Birthright trip for adults.  Please respond.
Thank you.

My husband and I are planning on being in Israel at the same time as this trip .  We have not made any land arrangements and want to know the following:
1.  Is this trip open to those who do not live in NJ?
2.  Is there an age limit?  I am 73 and my husband is 82.  We have both been to Israel but not in the last 20 years.
3.  How many people are you planning to accommodate on this trip?
4.  Donations to Federation?  Is there an expectation of contributing to this specific federation?
5.  What is the age span of your participants?
Thanks Linda.

I have never been to Israel before and am interested in a birthright tour. Will you have anything in the spring of 2013? My son will be in Israel from Feb - July 2013. Thank you Suzanne

I am a teacher who is over 55 and has never been to Israel. I would very much be interested in this kind of trip, but it would have to be during the summer or during winter break as I teach the rest of the time. Please let me know if there is an opportunity for this life-changing experience our daughter was able to take through Birthright.

I would love to go to Israel as I have never been.
Would like to go as cost efficient as possible,
Are there any birthright trips in the
Springtime or over the summer (towards end of summer)
I am 56 and have always wanted to go
But could not afford it.
Please advise me as soon as possible.
Thank you

would love to hear of a trip to israel for seniors.

Would love to hear of a free birthright trip to Israel—willing to work at a kibbutz.  We are young senior citizens.  Please advise. Thank you.

My husband & I were born in Germany right after the war.
Our parents are Holocaust survivors .
We have never been to Israel and would
be interested in a free or reduced rate
birthright trip to Israel.  We live in
Camden County.
        Thank you, Helene Bauer
