Victims of Superstorm Sandy from Union Beach have been invited to “shop for free” at Value City Furniture in East Brunswick on Saturday, Jan. 26, 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

Simon Kaplan of Mountainside, the owner of Value City Furniture, is donating $78,000 worth of furniture to Union Beach residents who suffered losses in the October storm.

A World War II veteran, Kaplan said he believes that the Union Beach residents should have the ability to choose furniture that matches their taste. He is also donating staff time, delivery, and floor space for the furniture display.

Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest NJ, together with the Borough of Madison, has partnered with Union Beach to help restore this town. Kaplan is a long-time federation supporter.
